Ruling coalition might change provided govt does not perform well: Gagan Thapa

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) General Secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa has said that the ruling alliance will change if they (the coalition government) do not act effectively.

Addressing a program held in Kathmandu on Saturday, the NC General Secretary said that if the government’s performance is not satisfactory, then it will not be a surprise provided the alliance collapses.

Thapa insisted that changing alliances and forming a new government is not a new thing.

“We are now in a coalition, if the coalition does not go well, it will change if it does not function well,” he said, “A new government will be formed, and it will not be strange. Coalitions build and break.”

General Secretary Thapa said that even if the Communists contested as one in the election, NC could easily face and defeat them.

He reiterated that it was wrong to form an alliance before the elections, fearing that  would have to leave the government.
