KATHMANDU: General Secretary of the CPN (Maoist Centre), Dev Gurung, has warned if the parties fail to forge consensus on President’s election, the country would face problems.

He underscored the need for building national consensus on the election of the President so that the country would not witness any difficulty.

He argued that the political parties who forged national consensus in case of the election of the Prime Minister should be able to forge national consensus for the election of the President too.

The parties should not form coalition for it, Gurung stressed. If the national consensus eludes, the country becomes a playground for foreign intervention, causing difficulty.

A common person who protects constitution and republic, and is acceptable to all would be elected new President, according to him.

Gurung reminded that the present need of the country is the continuation of consensus politics not the politics of negation.
