Clash erupts between Durga Prasai supporters and police at Balkhu

KATHMANDU: Tensions escalated at Balkhu on Thursday afternoon as clash unfolded between police personnel and supporters of activist Durga Prasai during a demonstration led by the latter.

In efforts to control the situation, the police resorted to firing tear gas and water cannons on the demonstrators.

The clash ignited as the protestors were reportedly heading towards Maitighar, recently declared a prohibitory zone.

This incident follows earlier clashes between supporters of Durga Prasai and Yuva Sangh, the CPN-UML affiliated youth association, adding to the ongoing tensions in the capital.
