Koshi Province assembly postponed indefinitely after UML, RPP boycott

BIRATNAGAR: The Koshi Province Assembly has been postponed indefinitely after the main opposition CPN-UML and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) boycotted the meeting on Wednesday.

The opposition parties boycotted the meeting objecting to the vote of the then presiding Speaker to Chief Minister Uddhav Thapa.

Israel Mansuri of the Nepali Congress, who presided over the province assembly meeting on August 21, gave a vote of confidence to Chief Minister Thapa.

Opposition parties UML and RPP boycotted Wednesday’s meeting arguing the voting was against parliamentary practice.

After the opposition parties boycotted the meeting, Mansuri, who is presiding over the meeting, announced that the meeting of the Provincial Assembly has been postponed until further notice.
