KATHMANDU: The meeting of national party leaders aimed at resolving the parliamentary impasse is underway at Singha Durbar.

Leaders from the Nepali Congress, CPN-UML, Maoist Center, Rastirya Swatantra Party, Rastriya Prajatantra Party, and Janata Samajwadi Party are currently engaged in discussions at the Prime Minister’s Office in Singha Durbar.

The scheduled meeting, originally planned for Tuesday, had to be postponed due to the absence of CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli. He was reported to be ill and unable to attend.

Earlier, a task force composed of representatives from UML, the Maoist Center, and the Nepali Congress had formulated an initial proposal for the establishment of a high-level committee to investigate the gold smuggling case.

The agenda of the meeting also includes deliberations on the creation of a high-level commission dedicated to probing the matter of gold smuggling.

The CPN-UML has been obstructing parliamentary sessions, pressing for the immediate formation of this high-level commission.

The parliamentary session is scheduled to convene at 3 pm on Wednesday.
