JAJARKOT: The Kohalpur-Surkhet 132- kV transmission project is likely to be completed within the deadline that will be ending in around eight months.
According to the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) Karnali, though initially there were some issues with land acquisition for the implementation of the project, now the dispute has been almost sorted out.
According to Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Shakti Bahadur Basnet, the distribution of compensation for the acquired land has proceeded as per the agreement.
The three-year project aims to address the electricity issues in Surkhet and other districts in the Karnali province including Jajarkot, Dailekh, Jumla, Kalikot and Dolpa.
Its contract was signed in 2077 BS with the Indian Company RS Infraprojects Pvt Ltd at the cost of Rs 700 million.
As of date, the project reports approximately 70 percent progress, according to the project office.
A total of 26 towers will be fixed between Kohalpur and Surkhet under the project.
