Former survey official arrested in connection to Lalita Niwas Land Grab Scam



KATHMANDU: Nepal Police arrested another individual in connection with the Lalita Niwas land scam. Arun Kumar Shrestha, a former official of the Department of Survey, was apprehended for his involvement in registering public land under individual names.

According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dinesh Acharya of the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB), a total of 21 individuals have been arrested in relation to the Lalita Niwas Land scam. The scam involved the embezzlement of 143 ropanis of land from Samarjung Company between 2049 BS and 2069 BS.

The government land at Lalita Niwas was fraudulently transferred to private ownership.

Previously, the CIB had submitted a report recommending legal action against 300 individuals involved, but the government attorney withdrew the report, citing the need for further investigation.
