UML Chief Whip demands reduction of PM’s Secretariat

KATHMANDU: Chief Whip of the CPN (UML), Padam Giri, has demanded to reduce the employee quotas at the Prime Minister’s Secretariat and to run it in an effective manner.

Presenting the proposal of cutting the budget expenditure on different headings under the Appropriation Bill 2080 in today’s meeting of the House of Representatives, Giri said quotas for 79 people at the PM Secretariat were more than necessary and the staff was not mobilized in an effective way.

He further said the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation has no tourism-targeted new programs.

Giri drew the government’s attention toward the financial losses the country has to bear if new airports are constructed without any preparation.

Similarly, Arjun Narsing KC of the Nepali Congress said the budget should address the people’s distress.

He urged the Prime Minister to resolve the existing problems of the country. Stating that corruption cases are increasing in the country, KC demanded the formation of a high-level probe committee under the leadership of judges of the Supreme Court on well-known corruption cases.
