Parliament Secretariat grants NC main opposition party status

KATHMANDU: The Federal Parliament Secretariat has recognized Nepali Congress (NC) as the main opposition party.

Sending a letter to NC Parliamentary Party leader Sher Bahadur Deuba, the Secretariat informed that the Nepali Congress PP leader would receive service facilities as the leader of the opposition party.

Earlier, there had been a dispute over the NC’s status as an opposition party citing its decision to support Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’-led coalition government.

It should be noted that the Nepali Congress had written to the Federal Secretariat seeking the status of opposition party and facilities.
