Unrest in Dhanusha as individual dies in police custody



KATHMANDU: Hingsapur Municipality in Dhanusha was plunged into chaos this morning as tensions escalated between the police and locals following the death of an individual in the custody of the Illaka Police Office.

The deceased has been identified as Deep Narayan Mandal.

Local residents expressed their outrage by staging a protest, alleging that Mandal’s death resulted from police brutality while in custody. The situation intensified, leading to clashes between the angry locals and law enforcement.

In an attempt to regain control, the police resorted to opening fire, resulting in injuries. Shankar Mandal, one of the local residents, reportedly sustained gunshot wounds to his hands during the confrontation.
