Dr. Bhattarai forms 5-member committee for unity with Maoist Center



KATHMANDU: Chairman of Nepal Samajwadi Party (NSP), Dr. Baburam Bhattarai has formed a five-member committee to hold talks for party unity with Maoist Center.

A coordinating committee has been formed marking a pivotal move in aligning political forces sharing similar ideologies and politics, including the Maoist Center.

The party’s central committee convened its fourth plenary meeting in Kathmandu on Wednesday, formalizing the creation of a 5-member unity committee.

This committee, encompassing Mahindra Raye Yadav, Ganganarayan Shrestha, Durga Sob, Ramesh Prasad Yadav, and Janakraj Shah, is tasked with fostering collaboration with political entities sharing compatible ideas and principles, notably the Maoists.

The unification process with the Maoists has progressed to its final stages.

While NSP has reported that aspects such as name, flag, and statute have been settled, the Committee will deliberate on issues related to ideas and principles.

The unity exercise with the Maoists is underscored by ongoing decisive talks between key leaders Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda, the Maoist Center Chairman and Dr Bhattarai, indicative of the earnest efforts towards a cohesive political collaboration.
