Elderly killed in elephant attack in Jhapa

JHAPA: 72-year-old Padmalal Tamang, who was living in a Bhutanese refugee camp in Beldangi, Damak of Jhapa died after being attacked by a wild elephant.

According to Meghraj Rai, head of the Division Forest Office, Jhapa, Tamang was attacked by an elephant in a community forest outside the camp last evening.

Tamang lived in hut No. 252 of Sector No. 2 of the camp.

He had gone to the forest to find firewood in the afternoon.

As he did not return in the evening, he was found dead in the forest during the search, Rai said.

Likewise, wild elephants destroyed a single concrete house of Bishal Dahal located in Mechinagar municipality-11.

Dahal informed that an elephant that entered the village from the local community forest, broke the wall and entered the house.
