Women’s T20 Quadrangular Series: Nepal wins by 6 wickets



KATHMANDU: Nepal emerged victorious over Hong Kong in an inaugural match under the MCA Women’s T20 Quadrangular Series. Nepal won by six wickets.

In the match held at Kuala-Lumpur-based Bayuemas Oval Cricket Stadium in Malaysia, Nepal met the target of 85 posted by Hong Kong in 15.5 overs at the loss of four wickets.

Samjhana Kumari Khadka scored 36 not out in her innings with five fours in 36 balls.

Puja Mahat left no stone unturned to exhibit her talent in her debut match scoring 16 while also taking a wicket.

Captain Rubina Chhetri Belbase scored 10. Hong Kong conceded 13 extra runs to Nepal.

Prior to this Nepal won the toss and elected to bowl. In the first inning, Hong Kong finished their batting with 84 runs in 19.1 overs at the loss of all wickets. Nepal gifted extra 4 runs to Hong Kong.

Hong Kong’s Ka Ying Chan scored 34 and it was followed by 16 of Shing Yan Dorothea Chan. Others failed to deliver a noticeable score. Hong Kong collected an extra four from Nepal.

Towards Bowling, Nepal’s Sita Magar alone took five wickets. She just gave 16 runs in four overs. Indu Barma took two wickets while Kabita Kunwar, Puja and Rubina each took one.

Other players in the team for Nepal are Bindu Rawal, Kabita Joshi, Kajol Shrestha, Apsari Begam and Ashmina Karmacharya.
Host Malaysia, Nepal, Hong Kong and Kuwait are in the Series as preparations for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Asia qualifier taking place in Malaysia from August 31.

Sita Rana Magar was announced the player of the match.

In another match held between Malaysia and Kuwait today itself, the host defeated the rival by eight wickets.

Nepal will take on Kuwait in the second game tomorrow.
