KATHMANDU: Rainfall is on the horizon for the country, with today’s forecast indicating the likelihood of wet weather.

According to the Weather Forecasting Division’s latest report, rain is expected across all provinces this Tuesday afternoon and evening, with some regions potentially experiencing very heavy downpours.

As per today’s weather bulletin from the Division, the outlook suggests the probability of light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning in certain locales within Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces.

Similar conditions are anticipated in a few places within the remaining provinces.

During this period, a few areas in Lumbini and Sudurpaschim regions are under the threat of heavy rainfall, while one or two places could face the brunt of exceptionally intense showers.

In the midst of this, meteorologist Sajina Shakya of the Division has indicated a likelihood of light to moderate rain in the Kathmandu Valley.

The weather bulletin also points to potential light to moderate rainfall in portions of Koshi, Madhesh, and Gandaki provinces, along with some isolated places in other regions.

Additionally, there is a chance of heavy rain combined with thunder and lightning in select areas of Koshi, Madhesh, and Gandaki provinces.

The Division has further issued a warning and advisory for the next 24 hours, extending until 6 am on Wednesday.

As the rain sets in, there is a heightened possibility of rising river levels, potentially leading to floods, landslides, and erosion in vulnerable regions.

These conditions could have wide-ranging effects on public health, agriculture, daily life, road infrastructure, and air transportation.

All residents are urged to take necessary precautions to mitigate inconveniences, risks, or damages that may arise from these conditions.
