High-level committee framework for gold smuggling probe to be finalized today



KATHMANDU: A task force consisting of three prominent leaders from major political parties will prepare the framework and extent of a proposed high-level committee aimed at investigating gold smuggling.

The task force, comprised of Subash Nemwang from CPN-UML, Ramesh Lekhak from Nepali Congress, and Hitraj Pandey from the Maoist Center, will draft a proposal outlining the committee’s framework and scope today morning.

The task force meeting is scheduled for 11 am today, during which they will prepare and subsequently present the draft structure and scope of the high-level investigative committee.

This presentation will take place during the afternoon meeting of top leaders at 2 pm today.

It is noteworthy that during a meeting of senior leaders from major political parties held on Monday night, a unanimous decision was reached to establish a high-level committee tasked with probing the issue of gold smuggling.

Thus far, a total of 23 individuals have been apprehended in connection with this case.
