RSP Chairman Lamichhane alleges collusion in gold smuggling at TIA

KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chairman, Rabi Lamichhane, has asserted that gold smuggling at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) cannot occur without collusion between the mechanism on duty there.

During a press interaction in Biratnagar on Sunday, Chairman Lamichhane stated, “Gold smuggling is not possible without some form of collusion.”

He further mentioned that as the investigation into the gold recovery case is still ongoing, there is no need to make any further comments on the matter.

“The investigation regarding the smuggling case is currently in progress. While the CPN-UML has demanded the resignation of the Home Minister, RSP will not follow suit without a proper investigation. It is inappropriate to call for resignations before the facts are revealed,” Lamichhane added.

The RSP Chairman clarified that the party will remain patient until the investigation is completed, and they will only raise their concerns once the reality of the situation becomes clear.
