KATHMANDU: CPN-Unified Socialist Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal has said the government’s policies and programs for the upcoming fiscal year are capable of addressing the current problems in the nation.
Taking part in deliberations on the government’s new policies and programs during a session of the House of Representatives (HoR) today, the lawmaker said the fresh government policies and programs would be a help to address issues like workforce plight, economic recession, high interests rates, lack of agriculture productivity and food crisis and transform the nation.
“The concept of individualism and feeling of superiority hamper the culture of cooperation, making it weaker,” the former Prime Minister said. “Education system is detrimental in shaping the citizens.” He was of the view of choosing only substantial projects and prioritizing them on the basis of needs assessment.
The leader also expressed his concern over a delay in the development of Nijgadh Airport in Bara. “The airport is necessary for tourism promotion and economic reforms,” he said, adding that each project should yield results.
As he said, the priority of sports within the ward level is a good aspect of the policies and programs.
He drew the government’s attention toward the lack of timely commencement of roadways projects and the lack of quality maintenance in the implementation.
The leader believed that it was necessary to increase production to have more jobs and to advance toward self-sufficiency. He utilized the rostrum to urge the government to take the world economic crisis into mind while making its plans ahead.
“The budget should be for the cause of people and development,” he said rebuking the comments that “fresh policies and programs are of no gravity.”
