Nepal facing Kyrgyzstan in CAVA Women’s Cup volleyball today



KATHMANDU: Nepal is facing Kyrgyzstan in the Central Asian Volleyball Association (CAVA) Women’s Cup volleyball today.

Earlier, Uzbekistan made a winning start in the event organized in Kathmandu.

Uzbekistan beat Sri Lanka 3-0 in straight sets in the opening match at the Covered Hall of the National Sports Council in Tripureshwor.

Sri Lanka fought hard in the first set and reached 27-25, but Uzbekistan won the remaining two sets easily.

Uzbekistan won the second set 25-20 and won the third set 25-14.

Among the 14 CAVA members, 8 teams including Kazakhstan and South Asia’s strong team India, which have already made their presence in the world volleyball, are participating in this tournament.

Nepal, which is aiming for a hat-trick by winning the title for the third time in a row, will start its title defense campaign by playing against Kyrgyzstan at 4:30 today in the Group A match.

This group includes India and Bangladesh along with Nepal and Kyrgyzstan.
