NC President Deuba holds talks with PM Dahal

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba discussed at length the issue of electing the country’s new President with Prime Minister (PM) Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda on Wednesday evening.

The two leaders talked about electing the President on the basis of consensus. However, NC President Deuba insisted on forging a consensus on a Nepali Congress leader for the President.

The political parties are required to register the name of the candidate on February 25 for the presidential election to be held on March 9.

Political leaders are under pressure since they have not been able to forge a consensus among them to elect the President.

It may be noted that prior to holding talks with PM Dahal, NC President Deuba had a meeting with leaders of the Unified Socialist Party at Deuba’s residence in Dhumbarahi.
