PM Dahal and UML Chair Oli hold one-on-one meeting at Baluwatar

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda are holding one-on-one meeting at the PM’s official residence in Baluwatar.

The two leaders are holding what has been dubbed as “crucial talks” at a time when the two ruling parties – Maoist Center and CPN-UML – are at odds on the issue of electing the country’s President.

UML Chair Oli reached Baluwatar to discuss the country’s current political situation, the election of the President, among other issues.

Sources claimed that the meeting is likely to focus on the President’s election, which is being held on March 9.

As the date of registration of nominations for the President is approaching, the top leaders of both the parties have stepped up their efforts.

The meeting is being held at a time when the Nepali Congress (NC) has claimed that the pre-election five-party coalition would be revived in a couple of days.

It has been learnt that Oli has proposed the name of Unified Socialist Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal as the new President.

PM Dahal, meanwhile, has already assured Nepali Congress of supporting NC’s candidate for the President.

Meanwhile, the ruling Maoist Center has entrusted party Chair and Prime Minister Prachanda to decide on the issue of the President.
