Over 64,000 obtain work permits in the last one month



KATHMANDU: More than 64,000 Nepalis obtained work permit to go abroad for employment in one month (mid-January to mid-February, 2023).

According to the Department of Foreign Employment, a total of 64,284 people, including 58,447 men and 5,837 women, obtained work permits for foreign employment.

Similarly, a total of 39,124 Nepalis (4,266 women and 34,858 men) obtained new work permits in the period.

The maximum number of Nepalis (19,783) who obtained work permits is for Malaysia.

Likewise, 12,704 Nepalis have obtained work permits for Qatar; 10,576 people for Saudi Arabia; 9,770 people for UAE, and 2,992 people for Kuwait.

Similarly, 417 Nepalis obtained work permits for Cyprus; 471 for Croatia; 882 for Japan; 270 people for Malta; 720 people for Poland; 45 people for Portugal, and 844 people for Romania, according to the Department.
