Over 3,400 CCTV cameras installed in Kathmandu Valley



KATHMANDU: In what can be dubbed as a strategic move to bolster crime control efforts, the Head of Kathmandu Valley Police Office, Additional Inspector General of Police (AIG) Deepak Thapa, announced the installation of CCTV cameras as a top priority for Kathmandu Valley.

AIG Thapa emphasized the collaborative efforts with various local levels to eliminate distortions and disharmony prevalent in society.

“We have accorded high priority to the installation of CCTV cameras in collaboration with Kathmandu and Lalitpur Metropolitan Municipality and Budhanilkantha Municipality. Cooperation with Tokha Municipality will aid in reducing crime in the bus park area,” stated AIG Thapa.

He revealed that 3,485 CCTV cameras have already been installed in Kathmandu Valley, and an additional 3,956 cameras are in progress, with 500 already installed through collaboration with Kathmandu Metropolitan Municipality and Budhanilkantha Municipality.

AIG Thapa reassured the public of the police’s unwavering commitment to quell disorder and disharmony around the New Bus Park area.
