Karnali Province announces public holiday today



KARNALI: The Karnali province government has declared a public holiday today on the occasion of the establishment day of the province and Martyr’s Day.

A public holiday has been given in all government and public institutions in the province today marking the day of establishment of the province, said Nirmala Regmi, section officer at the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Law.

In the movement that led to the formation of the province, Hari Bahadur Kunwar of Jumla and Gopalsingh Rajwar, Tikaram Gautam and Yam Bahadur BC of Surkhet were martyred.

Following the 13-day movement and their martyrdom, the then government announced province no. 6 by combining five districts of former Karnali zone, three districts of Bheri and two districts of Rapti.
