KATHMANDU: In the latest development, the Supreme Court (SC) has ruled in favor of Secretary Krishna Bahadur Raut’s release in the Lalita Niwas Land Grab case, following a habeas corpus petition filed by his family.

The court found no justifiable reason to keep him in custody.

However, the habeas corpus petitions of others, including Min Bahadur Gurung of Bhat Bhateni Supermarket, Former Election Commissioner Sudhir Kumar Shah, and former official Dharma Prasad Gautam, were not granted.

The SC has mandated the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal police to continue investigating the case while ensuring that Raut remains within the country until the investigation is completed.
