Home Minister Shrestha vows to unearth gold scandal’s root regardless of undue influences



KATHMANDU: Home Minister Narayankaji Shrestha has emphatically reiterated his commitment to uncovering the truth behind the gold scandal, regardless of any undue influences.

During his visit to the Tribhuvan International Airport Customs Office and Immigration Office on Friday, Minister Shrestha vowed to take strict action against all individuals involved in gold smuggling and to implement effective measures to prevent such incidents in the future.

Addressing journalists’ questions, Minister Shrestha acknowledged the need for improved precautions based on past incidents, acknowledging existing shortcomings.

He firmly declared that the investigation into this latest gold smuggling case would remain unaffected by any external influences from three B’s – Balkot (CPN-UMl Chairman KP Oli’s residence), Baluwatar (Prime Minister’s Official residence), and Budhanilkantha (Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba’s residence).

Furthermore, he emphasized that those found guilty of the recent gold smuggling would be thoroughly prosecuted to get to the root of the matter.

Minister Shrestha also highlighted that the Ministry of Home Affairs is actively leading the anti-corruption campaign under the leadership of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal.

By taking a resolute stand against corruption and smuggling, Minister Shrestha and the government are demonstrating their dedication to upholding the rule of law and ensuring accountability for any unlawful activities.
