EC sets up election security management monitoring mechanism



KATHMANDU: The Election Commission has set up a by-election security management monitoring mechanism in a bid to make effective efforts to organize the April 23 by-poll in a free, fair, and fearless manner, said the Commission.

Led by joint secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Jitendra Basnet, other members of the mechanism are Colonel, Nepal Army, Bhesh Bahadur KC, Senior Superintendent of Police, Surendra Bahadur Gurung, Senior Superintendent, Armed Police Force, Digbijaya Subedi and associate investigation director, the National Investigation Department, Bhumi Prasad Pathak.

The effect of the mechanism will remain until April 24.

Meanwhile, on the occasion, Chief Election Commissioner Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya directed the organization of the by-election in a fair, free, impartial, credible, transparent, and fearless manner.

Others present on the occasion were election commissioners Ram Prasad Bhandari, Dr. Janaki Kumari Tuladhar, Sagun Shumsher JBR, and the Commission’s secretary Gokarna Mani Duwadi.

The by-election is taking place in Bara Constituency 2, Tanahun 1, and Chitwan 2 on April 23.
