Nepal beat Oman by 84 runs in ACC Premier Cup on Friday

KATHMANDU: Nepal has registered its second consecutive victory in the ACC Premier Cup cricket undergoing in Kathmandu.

Nepal defeated Oman by 84 runs in today’s match played at TU Cricket Ground, Kirtipur.

Batting first, Nepal scored 310 runs after losing 8 wickets in the stipulated 50 overs.

The team Oman, which entered the field with a target of 311 runs, lost all wickets in 46.3 overs and was confined at 226 runs.

With the win, Nepal is at the top position in Group A with 100 percent victory. Along with this, Nepal has also reached the semi-finals.

While giving victory to Nepal, Sandeep Lamichhane and Karan KC took 3 wickets each, while Dipendra Singh Airee took 2 wickets and Lalit Rajbanshi took 1 wicket.

Oman’s Mohammad Nadeem scored a half-century of 65 runs while Sandeep Goud was dismissed for 46 runs. Likewise, Ayan Khan contributed 29 runs, and Kashyap Prajapati 25 runs.

After losing the toss and being invited to bat first, Nepal scored 310 runs losing 8 wickets in the scheduled over. This is the highest target ever set by Nepal.

Both the openers of Nepal could not open their accounts in the ODI match recognized by the ICC. Young player Kushal Malla handled the innings in which Nepal lost the opener without opening the account of runs. He played a century of 108 runs for Nepal. He hit 10 nine fours and 10 sixes in 64 balls.

Similarly, Sompal Kami of Nepal played a half-century innings. He scored an unbeaten 63 off 48 balls with the help of nine fours. Similarly, Karan KC scored 29 unbeaten runs in 15 balls with the help of two fours and a six.

Earlier, Rohit Poudel and Bhim Sarki, who came after both the openers were dismissed, shared a 54-run partnership for the third wicket. Their partnership was broken by Oman’s bowler Fayaz Butt. On the first ball of the 18th over of the match, captain Rohit Paudel returned to the pavilion scoring 23 runs individually. He hit two fours. Rohit was caught out by Fayaz Butt from Kashyap Prajapati.

After that, Nepal lost another batsman, Bhim Sarki, who was stuck at the crease, in the 21st over when the score was 72. Bhim Saraki scored 33 runs in 56 balls with the help of four fours and a six.

Then Nepal lost another player Aarif Sheikh in the 32nd over of the match. Aarif hit two fours off 29 balls and scored 29 runs. Jatinder Singh, who made his ODI bowling debut for Oman, caught Arif out of Karimullah’s hands. Kushal Malla and Arif Shaikh shared 73 runs for the fifth wicket.

After that, Dipendra Singh Airee, who is known as another reliable batsman of Nepal, got out after making seven runs. He scored 7 runs in 12 balls and was dismissed by Ayan Khan. When Dipendra got out, Nepal’s score was 172 runs.

When Nepal’s score was 221 runs, Kushal Malla, who played a century, got out. After that, Sandeep Lamichhane, who came to bat, scored 8 runs and was caught out by Jay Odera, who was on the field as an alternative fielder.

For Oman, Ayan Khan took two wickets while Vilal Khan, Kalimullah, Fayaz Butt, Akiv Ilyas and Jatinder Singh took one each.
