Sages conference to further expand Resunga and Ayodhya relations

KATHMANDU: The Resunga Municipality in Gulmi district is bringing together over 400 santas or holy men and women from India and Nepal to organize the Conference of Santas from coming 6-14 May.

The event ‘Shree Ram Mahayagya, Kathabachan Mahotsav abam Birat Shanta Bhakta Darshan Mela’ (Shree Ram Ritual Sacrifice, Storytelling Fair and Grand Santa Devotees meet) will be organized in the religious and touristic place of Resunga in the district.

The event is aimed at further expanding ancient ties between Resunga and Ayodhya in India thereby further promoting religious tourism between the two places.

According to Resunga Conservation Committee, one of the organizers, the event will be held in the pond area of Resunga.
Swami Rajendra Nanda of Ayodhya and Yogi Shambhunath of Rajasthan in India will read out various religious scriptures to the devotees coming to offer obeisance to the santas.

Narrating the Vedic link between Ayodhya and Resunga, Yogi Shambhunath mentioned that Treta Yuga’s King of Ayodhya, Dasaratha, had taken Hrishyashring sage from Resunga for Yagya (ritual sacrifice), as he was not blessed with a son.

He expressed his sorrow that Resunga, despite being historically, religiously and naturally amazing and delightful, was lagging behind in lack of adequate publicity.

Sureshchandra Bhusal, Chairperson of the Resunga Conservation Committee, viewed that the development of Resunga area would contribute in development and promote religious tourism in the district.

Furthermore, the Resunga Municipality is going to launch ‘Jau Hida Resunga (Let’s go to Resunga!) campaign soon with an objective to attract more tourists to the municipality.
