KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) General Secretary Gagan Thapa has said that all political parties should resolve the issue of peace process and transitional justice without looking at the immediate profit and loss.
In a program held in memory of NC leader Girija Prasad Koirala on Tuesday, he said that there is no time to prolong the peace process in this or that name.
“We have to try to address this issue beyond party narrowness and immediate profit loss, we don’t have the convenience of time,” Thapa said.
Saying that it is too late to finish the issue of transitional justice, he also asked CPN-UML to cooperate.
“We all have to sit together and work together. NC, UML, Maoist Center, all of us should come together and complete the task without being the part of blame games,” the NC General Secretary said.
“We could not address the feelings of those who suffered from the conflict, if we start saying that they have to bear the burden in the name of ending it, even if they don’t accept it, we will be in trouble,” he added.
NC leader Thapa said that although the issue of transitional justice is an internal matter of Nepal, international laws will be attracted to it, and it should be taken into account whether those laws are correct or not.
