President Bhandari performs pooja at Changunarayan Temple



BHAKTAPUR: President Bidya Devi Bhandari has performed pooja at the historic Changunarayan Temple and received prasad on Saturday. The temple is in the World Heritage List.

The President performed pooja at main temple, Kileshwor Mahadev Temple and Chhinnamasta Temple. The temples are located in Changunarayan Municipality of Bhaktapur.

President Bhandari enquired about historic and archaeological value of the temple there. She also acquired information on the renovation of the temples after the Gorkha Earthquake, 2015.

Director General at Department of Archaeology, Damodar Gautam, informed President Bhandari about the historical and cultural aspects of the temple and renovation activities after the earthquake.

Similarly, chief of Durbar care and monument protection office in Bhaktapur, Aruna Nakarmi, also informed the President about the situation following the earthquake.

Temple priest Chakradharanand Rajopadhyay offered tika, flowers and prasad to President Bhandari.

The President also inspected the Changunarayan Museum during the visit.

Earlier, she was received at the temple premises by Bagmati Province Assembly member Suresh Shrestha, Chief District Officer of Bhaktapur Rudra Devi Sharma, Chief of District Coordination Committee Ishwor Thapa, Mayor of Changu Narayan Municipality Jivan Khatri, and Deputy Mayor Ramesh Budhathoki, among others.
