NA Election: 2,074 voters with a total vote weightage of 57,559



KATHMANDU: The Election Commission (EC) has given its nod to the list of voters for the forthcoming National Assembly (NA) election scheduled for January 25.

The approved list comprises 2,074 individuals, including 549 members of provincial assemblies and 1,498 Chairpersons and Vice-Chairpersons of Rural Municipalities and Mayor and Deputy Mayors of Municipalities.

However, nine individuals, including a deceased member of the provincial assembly, and eight Chairpersons and Vice-Chairpersons of Rural Municipalities and Municipalities, who have either passed away or faced suspension, will not be participating in the voting process.

The Election Commission is set to publish the final list of voters on January 7.

In terms of vote weightage, each provincial assembly member holds a vote weight of 53, while the Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Mayor, and Deputy Mayor of the local level carry a vote weight of 19 each. The cumulative vote weightage totals 57,559, with provincial assembly members accounting for 29,097 and local level leaders contributing 28,462 to the overall count.
