KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Home Affairs has established a coordination team led by former Chief Secretary Lilamani Paudyal to streamline the operations of various agencies within the Ministry.

Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Narayankaji Shrestha announced the formation of the committee during a program held at Singha Durbar on Monday, aiming to enhance the ministry’s effectiveness.

This committee, operational since November 10, focuses on enhancing the functioning of seven key agencies. Minister Shrestha highlighted the committee’s scope, encompassing a comprehensive review of Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, Prison Management, Department of Immigration, Local Administration and its service delivery, disaster management, and the optimization of the national identity card system.

“The committee’s mandate extends to proposing necessary legal or policy reforms,” expressed DPM Shrestha, emphasizing its broad improvement agenda across these crucial areas.

The committee’s tenure spans three months, with Lilamani Paudyal serving as the coordinator. Other members include former secretaries Sharad Chandra Paudyal, Shankar Prasad Koirala, Lakshmi Prasad Dhakal, Professor Khadga KC, former IGP Prakash Aryal, former IGP (APF) Singha Bahadur Shrestha, sociologist Bindu Pokharel, and information technology expert Bijaya Gautam.

Minister Shrestha underscored that the committee operates on a voluntary basis, with each member voluntarily assuming responsibility. “This initiative has commenced as per their recommendations,” he remarked.
