Koshi CM Thapa approaches UML and RPP seeking vote of confidence

BIRATNAGAR: Koshi Province Chief Minister Uddhav Thapa has sent a letter to the main opposition party CPN-UML and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) on Sunday seeking their support for a vote of confidence.

Chief Minister Thapa is taking the vote of confidence from the provincial assembly on Monday.

“The Chief Minister has sent us a letter today asking for a vote of confidence,” said UML chief whip Revati Raman Bhandari.

However, he (Bhandari) hinted that the possibility of UML giving a vote of confidence to Chief Minister Thapa is low.

In the provincial assembly, the ruling coalition has 47 votes, with Nepali Congress 29, CPN-Maoist Center 13, CPN-Unified Socialists 4 and Janata Samajbadi Party 1. In the opposition, UML has 40 votes (including the Deputy Speaker) and RPP has 6 votes making the opposition votes 46.
