KATHMANDU: A collision between a bus and a motorcycle in Kathmandu has claimed the lives of two motorcycle riders.
At around 7:30 this morning, a bus with the registration number Na 5 Kha 5092, traveling from Balaju towards Kalanki, collided with a motorcycle (registered as Bagmati Pradesh-02-037) heading in the opposite direction.
The collision occurred at Annapurna Chowk near Swayambhu, resulting in the demise of two individuals.
The two victims have been identified as Ramkumar Bharati and Anita Thapa, both aged 32, and hailing from Sindhupalchok.
While the address of the deceased male, Ramkumar Bharati, has not yet been confirmed, both individuals sustained critical injuries and sadly succumbed shortly after being transported to the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, Maharajgunj, for medical attention.
Additionally, a 10-year-old named Anisha Thapa, who was on the two-wheeler, was also seriously injured in the accident.
She is currently undergoing treatment at Manmohan Memorial Hospital in Kalanki, as confirmed by the police.
The bus driver, Dan Bahadur Thapa, aged 41 and a resident of Dhading, has been taken into custody following the incident.
Authorities are conducting a thorough investigation to determine further details surrounding the collision.
