HoR meeting taking place today

PM Dahal optimistic about an uninterrupted Parliament session

KATHMANDU: A meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) is taking place today afternoon.

The meeting held on August 14 had been postponed due to the CPN-UML, the main opposition party, calling for the formation of a high-level committee to probe a 60-kilo gold smuggling case.

In response to this obstruction, Speaker Devraj Ghimire adjourned the proceedings to August 20.

In a parallel development, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” conveyed his optimism on Saturday, anticipating smooth functioning of the Parliament starting today.

It is noteworthy that PM Dahal engaged in a discussion with Speaker Ghimire on Friday morning to devise strategies for overcoming the impasse in the House of Representatives.

The CPN-UML has been continuously obstructing the parliament, insisting on the constitution of a high-level investigative committee to delve into the gold smuggling incident.
