Four people arrested with undisclosed foreign currency at TIA

KATHMANDU: Four individuals were apprehended at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) for carrying undisclosed foreign currency.

The arrest took place at 11:00 pm on Wednesday, as reported by Airport Police Spokesperson SSP Deep Shumsher Rana.

The suspects have been identified as Anish Thapa from Butwal, Santosh Panthi from Gulmi, Dipesh Rana, and another person whose identity has not been disclosed.

The police seized a significant amount of foreign currency from the individuals, which included US$41,400, 1 lakh 19 thousand 500 Saudi riyals, 1,357 Oman riyals, and 488 Bahrain dinars.

Among the arrested individuals, Anish Thapa was caught while trying to board a Himalaya Airlines flight to Dubai on a visit visa at 11:30 am.

Santosh Panthi, Dinesh Rana, and the unnamed individual had come to the airport to deliver the money to Anish.

The money was cleverly hidden in a carton of noodles, which they handed over to him before his arrest.
