Nominations for “Mero Gaon Mero Thaau” video challenge announced



KATHMANDU: As many as 70 documentaries have been nominated in 10 different categories for the “Mero Gaon, Mero Thaau” (My Village, My Place) video challenge 2023.

70 documentaries have been nominated out of a total of 258 submitted from all over the country.

The “We Will Rise Foundation” has been organizing a nationwide documentary competition “Mero Gaon, Mero Thaau” focusing on any significant natural, cultural heritage, costumes, caste identity, cuisine, art culture, among others, which have been overshadowed by the tourism point of view.

The organizers will award Best Video of the Year, Judges’ Choice Award, Story Concept/Best Direction, Best Video Maker of the Year, Future Star of the Year, Most Potential Destination, Most Energetic Video Maker, Best Script/Voice Over, Best Cinematographer and Best Editor.

Seven videos have been nominated in each category.

The documentary selection team includes Director Bhushan Dahal, actress Karishma Manandhar, Press Council Nepal President Balkrishna Basnet, Director and Cinematographer Sabnam Mukhiya, Nepal Tourism Board Manager Archana KC Rana, Nepal Industry Confederation General Manager Deepakraj Joshi (former CEO of Tourism Board) and Director of “We Will Rise Foundation” Nirmal Shrestha.

Among the best videos, the Best Video of the year will receive Rs five lakh, the Judges’ Choice Award will receive Rs two lakh and all other categories will receive Rs one lakh each in cash.

The grand finale of the competition to be held on May 27 will be live telecast from Nepal Television.
