7,000 students graduate from Pokhara University

POKHARA: A total of 6,999 students have graduated from the Pokhara University on its 18th Convocation Ceremony organized at the central office of the university at Dhungepatan of Pokhara on Monday.

Prime Minister and Chancellor of the Pokhara University, Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ conferred the degrees to the graduated students.

The PU has honored a student with the Chancellor Medal for PhD submission from Faculty of Management, Chancellor Medal to 11 students for securing the highest marks from different streams in the Masters Level and a student from Vice-Chancellor Medal for securing the highest marks in the Bachelors Level in this year.

Likewise, 572 students from different streams were honored with the title of Dean List.

The PU has also honored a student with Laxmi Gold Medal, 2079 for getting the highest marks in the MBA Program from a constituent college of the university.

Likewise, a student was given away Asim Gold Medal, 2079 for securing the highest marks in BCA Program from the Faculty of Science and Technology.

The University is running 64 different programs of Bachelors, Masters, MPhil and PhD from 66 colleges, the Vice Chancellor of PU Prof Dr Prem Narayan Aryal said.

In the year 2079, more than 37,600 students are studying in the PU affiliated and constituent colleges.

Addressing the Convocation Ceremony, Chancellor of the PU and Prime Minister Prachanda expressed the confidence that the PU will produce needed human resources for the country’s political, economic, social and academic transformation.

The PM has asked the university to focus on producing competitive and research-oriented human resources.

Likewise, Prof Dr Uma Bhardwaj of India’s Noida International University (NIU) emphasized on producing high-level human resource that could compete in the global market through quality education.
