Protest on November 23  is for change of system: Durga Prasai

JHAPA: Durga Prasai, a medical professional leading a demonstration planned for November 23 in Kathmandu, remains resolute in his campaign, stating unequivocally that he will not withdraw under any circumstances.

Speaking to reporters on Sunday, Prasai attributed the current countrywide crisis to mainstream political parties and their leadership. He emphasized that the campaign aims for a systemic change.

He questioned, “It’s been years since the establishment of the republic. Have the people truly felt its impact? Why do we continue with such a system?”

Regarding the concurrent protest announced by the CPN-UML on November 23, Prasai asserted they (his group) won’t engage in confrontation. “UML claims they’re prepared for a clash with us. However, we aren’t seeking conflict.”

He confidently predicted the participation of 500,000 to 700,000 people in Kathmandu on the protest day.
