Four NC MPs approach Gagan Thapa with proposal to topple Bagmati Province government

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress leaders have ramped up efforts to overthrow the Bagmati Province government, currently helmed by Shalikram Jammakattel of the Maoist Center.

NC General Secretary Gagan Thapa revealed that four party MPs approached him on Thursday morning with a proposal to overthrow the Bagmati Province government.

Speaking at a program in Kathmandu, Thapa stated, “Four MPs from Bagmati Province approached me this morning. With 38 MPs in Bagmati Province, we are the largest party and we do not align with the Maoists.”

According to Thapa, the Shekhar Koirala faction has garnered support from 12 to 13 individuals within a few days. They are suggesting a change in government.

After Nepali Congress leader Shekhar Koirala’s move in Koshi Province, which defied the party’s decision and led to the appointment of Kedar Karki as Chief Minister with CPN-UML’s support, its repercussions have begun to reverberate in other states as well.
