RUKUM WEST: Lok Bahadur BK, known as Lokendra of Rukum West, recently released from prison pardoned by President, has been arrested for the alleged murder of a woman.

BK was apprehended in connection with the death of 27-year-old Bhawana BK of Musikot-7.

Bhawana’s lifeless body was discovered in a hotel room at Satkar Hotel in Musikot Municipality-1 Khalanga on Tuesday morning, her throat slit with a sharp weapon, and covered with silk.

DSP Namaraj Bhattarai of District Police Office Rukum West said that 33-year-old Lokendra was taken into custody after evidence suggested his involvement in Bhawana’s murder.

The deceased woman’s husband is currently employed abroad.

According to DSP Bhattarai, it appears there was a relationship between Lokendra and Bhawana.

“Lokendra admitted to the crime, stating that he stabbed Bhawana in a fit of rage following an escalated argument after he proposed marriage to her,” explained DSP Bhattarai.

Further investigation unveiled that Lokendra and Bhawana had booked a hotel room, masquerading as a married couple on October 15.

On the day of the incident, the hotel owner alerted the authorities after noticing the room’s locked door.

Subsequent inspection by the police, aided by a trained dog, confirmed Lokendra’s involvement in the murder.

Prior to this, Lokendra had been serving a jail sentence for a polygamy case.

He was sentenced to 11 months imprisonment by the Rukum West District Court, having married a second time while his first wife was abroad.

However, on September 20, Likendra was pardoned by the government on the occasion of Constitution Day, having served 6 months of his sentence.

Police investigations have uncovered that Bhawana had been visiting Lokendra during his time in jail, and that there were instances of an illicit relationship and financial transactions between them.

Items recovered from the crime scene included a sharp knife, a knife sheath, a sum of Rs 85,835 in cash, and Lokendra’s mobile phone.
