Chief Minister Jamkattel insists on enhancing provincial structures

HETAUDA: Bagmati Province Chief Minister, Shalikram Jamkattel, has said the federal democratic republic system would not enhance until provincial structures were strengthened.

Talking to the media after taking part in a sapling planting program at Chitrepani Community Forest at Hetauda on the occasion of the Constitution Day, the Chief Minister insisted on strengthening and institutionalizing provincial structures to progress towards socialism as envisaged by the Constitution.

He utilized the moment to claim that the province government is working as per the spirit of the Constitution.

As he said, most of the laws regarding exclusive powers granted by the Constitution to the province have been enacted. However, some laws relating to the concurrent powers of the federal and state are still awaited. The matters are yet to be materialized due to a delay in the formulation of such laws at the federal level, according to him.

Describing the Constitution as a political document to institutionalize the federal democratic republic of Nepal, the Chief Minister highlighted the roles of a three-tier government to properly implement it.

The Bagmati Province government is observing Constitution Day for three days beginning today.

The major celebrations will take place on September 20, in commemoration of the promulgation of the Constitution through the historic Constituent Assembly on Asoj 3, 2072 BS (September 20, 2015).
