Maoist Center contemplates changing party name ahead of convention

KATHMANDU: The Maoist Centre is considering a significant decision regarding the party’s name during the upcoming convention.

Party General Secretary Dev Gurung issued a circular, suggesting that discussions will be held to potentially rebrand the party as “Nepal Communist Party” with “Maoist Center” included within parentheses, as a means to foster party unity.

The move is seen as a strategic step in light of ongoing discussions and negotiations aimed at achieving unity with other communist factions.

To facilitate the success of this endeavor, the Maoist Center, which is a constituent part of the Nepal Communist Party, will explore the possibility of a name change during the forthcoming convention.

Decisions regarding this matter are expected to be finalized during the event.
