KATHMANDU: The Election Commission (EC) has directed the candidates of the November 20, 2022, House of Representative (HoR) election to make public their expenses incurred in the election within a week and submit their details in the concerned districts’ election offices.

As per the Election (Offences and Punishment) Act, the HoR and Province Assembly candidates should furnish their expenses within 35 days of the final result announcement.

Of the 2,373 HoR candidates and 3,188 province assembly candidates, 37 HoR candidates and 37 province assembly candidates have been asked to submit clarification by releasing their names in the EC’s website for failing to submit the election expenses.

According to the EC’s Assistant Spokesperson Surya Prasad Aryal, the candidates have been asked why they do not deserve action for failing to submit their expenses in the given deadline after the completion of the election.
