FNNTE demands government establish high-powered transport authority

KATHMANDU: The Federation of Nepalese National Transport Entrepreneurs (FNNTE) has demanded the government constitute a high-powered transport authority with the participation of stakeholders concerned.

A delegation led by Federation President Bijay Bahadur Swar today called on President Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ at latter’s office in Baluwatar with the same request.

Engine test for 20-year-old vehicles and condition check before granting permission for operating any vehicle are among the demands that the Federation put before the government during the meeting, according to Federation senior Vice-Chair Punya Prasad (Saroj) Sitaula.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister assured that concerns of transport entrepreneurs would be addressed soon as the government recognized the need to further systematize the domestic transport sector as its common program.

Prior to this, the Federation called on Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Narayan Kaji Shrestha, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs, Rabi Lamichhane and Bagmati Province Chief Minister Shalikram Jamarkattel apprising them about problems in the overall domestic transport sector.
