Result in education should be as per investment in this sector: President Paudel



KATHMANDU: President Ramchandra Paudel has said result in education should be achieved as per the investment made in this sector as the society without education could not be imagined.

He laid emphasis that students should focus their attention to achieve the result as per the investment made by the government for the development of education sector.

Addressing the 49th Convocation Ceremony of Tribhuvan University on Monday, the President shared that although government’s investment in education sector was not that adequate, country’s future is connected with the production of human resources.

“You (students) have some responsibility and duty towards the nation and people. I am hopeful that you will fulfill this responsibility and duty,” the President mentioned.

President Paudel opined, “Your knowledge, skill and technology will be useful for nation building. I believe that the role of fresh TU graduates for building a capable, strong and prosperous nation will be significant.”

He further mentioned that the constitution having inclusive feature is in the process of implementing social unity and equality in the society. He added it is necessary to understand that the constitution, and this system is very important for the unity of Nepali society.

“The decades thereafter has been instable and conflict-oriented against such a backdrop in the world, a democratic system where public are the sovereign has been established following a lot of sufferings and scarifies of the people. The current constitution and this system having inclusiveness as its features are trying to implement social unity and quality in the Nepali society,” the President observed.

Stating that there no denying to the fact that the role of an academic institution like a university as the mother of the higher education was very important for nation-building and national prosperity, President Paudel argued that the prosperity of any nation would not only depend on its natural resources. It would, instead, rely on necessary knowledge, skills and technological development for the proper utilization of the available natural resources.

Furthermore, the Head of the State called for making development of knowledge, skills and technology effective, useful for life and fruitful for the country for which, he highlighted the need for the Tribhuvan University to adopt a timely policy to make its education contextual, market-oriented and competitive in the global market.

Paudel viewed that the establishment of this grand old university, its teaching and studies would be validated by being dedicated to nation building and securing national interests through the building of a truly national characteristics.

He said, “I believe we should not intimidate ourselves by any means because of the knowledge, skills and capabilities we acquired from the professors, students and staffers of the universities, starting from the Nalanda University to up to now.”
