PM Dahal ‘concerned’ about rising trends of migration

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister (PM) Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda expressed concern about the growing inclination toward negative activities within Nepal.

He emphasized that focusing on negativity leads to degradation rather than progress and impedes the country’s development.

“We have developed a habit of concentrating on negative aspects, which hinders the progress of the nation. Instead of fostering positivity, we are often inclined towards negativity,” said PM Dahal while addressing a program in Lalitpur on Monday.

Acknowledging the significant number of young people leaving the country, he admitted that the lack of job opportunities contributes to this trend.

However, he pointed out that it is not the sole reason, citing instances where teachers and headmasters leave their jobs, paying hefty sums to work abroad.

“There is a rush of young people going abroad, and while employment opportunities are a concern, it’s not the only factor. In some instances, even teachers and headmasters are leaving their jobs in the country,” PM Dahal stated.

He emphasized the need to address the negative mindset prevailing in the country, stating, “If a person’s thinking is wrong, even if provided with a job, they will not stay in the country.”

Admitting the government’s shortcomings, PM Dahal promised to work towards addressing dissatisfaction, introducing federal civil law, and bringing changes to the education system to discourage the sole reliance on going abroad for opportunities.

“We have not accomplished as much as we should have, and I admit it. Over the next year, I will work diligently to address all dissatisfaction and encourage positive efforts,” Prime Minister Dahal said.
