No alternative but to embrace path of peace: Gandaki CM Pandey

POKHARA: Chief Minister of Gandaki Province Surendra Raj Pandey said there is no alternative but to move ahead by embracing Buddha’s teachings for peace and education in the diversity-rich country, Nepal.

Inaugurating the Pema Dhechhenling Monastery constructed by Baidam Tamang Sewa Samaj, Pokhara-6 on Saturday, he said Buddha’s message that the ultimate truth is peace has spread all over the world. “Although people run for wealth during their lives, the ultimate truth is peace, this Buddha’s message has spread not only in Nepal but all over the world.”

There is a need to strengthen social harmony that has existed for years while passing down traditions, cultures and customs to the new generation. “There is no way but to embrace the path of peace and move ahead the way Buddha spread the message of peace in the world.”

He expressed confidence that the monastery built at the cost of over Rs 27 million would help extend the stay of tourists, both domestic and foreign. In the monastery, a 28-foot-tall statue of Lord Buddha has been installed.
