Minimum wage for workers raised to Rs 17,300



KATHMANDU: The government has implemented an increase in the minimum wage for workers.

As stated in the official notification published in the Nepal Gazette by the Ministry of Labour, Employment, and Social Security, the minimum wage for workers has been increased to Rs 17,300.

In accordance with section 106 of the Labor Act, 2074 BS, this change in the minimum wage will be effective from the Nepali month of Shrawan 1 (July 17).

This adjustment reflects a fundamental salary of Rs 17,300, inclusive of a dearness allowance of Rs 10,820.

It is worth noting that the previous minimum wage was set at Rs 15,000 per month.

Furthermore, the daily wage has now been set at Rs 668, with an hourly wage of Rs 80. Part-time workers will also experience an increased hourly wage of Rs 95, providing fair compensation for their contributions.

These adjustments reflect the government’s commitment to enhancing the economic conditions of workers and ensuring that their labor is adequately compensated.
