KATHMANDU: The Government of the People’s Republic of China has provided eight advanced electric vehicles to the Federal Parliament of Nepal.

These vehicles have been received as per the commitment made by Li Zhanshu, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of China, of assisting the Secretariat.

Li had made this commitment in a meeting with former Speaker of Nepal’s Parliament, Agni Prasad Sapkota, during his visit to Nepal a year back.

Secretary of the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee, Suraj Kumar Dura said that three AUVs and five electric cars have been gifted by China.

These vehicles worth approximately Rs 30 million were handed over to a team of Parliament Secretariat employees at the Nepal-China border transit point of Kerung.

These vehicles are presently parked at the Parliament Building premises and work related to registering them and acquiring their number plate is in progress, it is said. Before this, China had assisted some vehicles to the Secretariat in 2016 also.
